Bunbury Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade was established in 1985 by a handful of local gentlemen. They worked hard to establish the Brigade and gain support from the City of Bunbury to recognise and support a Volunteer Fire Brigade movement in the Bunbury area. In these first few years they worked tirelessly conducting hazard reduction burns around the Bunbury and Australind area to gain funds for the Brigade to be able to purchase its own fire fighting appliance.
The City of Bunbury Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade is responding to the changing environment.
Fire suppression and prevention are strongly linked, and the Brigade works closely with the City of Bunbury Community Law and Safety Department to provide information and advice on fire preparedness and prevention. The Brigade regularly assists the City of Bunbury And DFES Mitigation Dept with hazard reduction in and around the Bunbury area.
Fires in a Rural Urban interface environment are becoming more common and the Brigade prides itself on keep its knowledge and skills up to date to help protect the Community and Brigade members in the most effective ways possible.
